Ethics & Sustainability
GOOD REPUTATION IS EARNED AND MAINTAINED OVER TIME BY CONSTANTLY AND PRACTICALLY COMMITTING TO PEOPLE, LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The DUNA Group and its DUNAPACK® Division have always been committed to operating in full respect of ethical values, people and the Environment. Responsibility and Reputation are key elements for a cutting-edge company, striving to gain and maintain the trust and collaboration of all stakeholders to continue to grow and innovate.
Success and product excellence are not sufficient alone to define a company's market position. It is Code of Ethics. The Code of Conduct is shared and issued by the Shareholders and the Board of Directors on a totally voluntary basis. It applies to all DUNA employees regardless of their position and hierarchical level.
The Code of Ethics governs all internal and external relations, among the members of the organisation and between the DUNA Team and the various external stakeholders, suppliers, customers and local communities. We chose to assert our Responsibility to ensure that all DUNA employees and processes convey and prove our Corporate values in practice.

All report can be shared through the dedicated platform here, that ensure the full anonymity and protection of the reporting person.

THE GREEN COMMITMENT OF THE DUNAPACK® DIVISION
Backed by the certifications earned by the DUNA Group and faithful to the same values of Ethics and Sustainability, DUNAPACK® strives every day to develop new packaging solutions with a low environmental impact and guide customers towards more responsible choices. This commitment covers all the three DUNAPACK® packaging lines: Air In Place cushions, Paper In Place packaging and Foam In Place protection systems.
The Air in Place cushions’ range has been enriched over the years with multiple eco-friendly packaging solutions. Back in 2018, DUNAPACK® introduced TEO, the fully compostable and biodegradable film. Made of vegetable starch and biodegradable co-polyester, the TEO packaging are easily disposable in organic waste collection and entirely OK COMPOST INDUSTRIALcertified by TÜV Austria according to TÜV Industrial UNI EN 13432 Regulation. In 2022, DUNAPACK® launched the new RIO film, regenerated cushions made up of 70% of recycled plastic, designed to reduce the consumption of virgin raw material and contribute to the recovery of industrial waste. The same objectives lately pushed DUNAPACK® to revise the whole Air in Place range aiming at reducing the thickness of all film materials: for all available formats, our air cushions are now significantly thinner at same protective performance.
Our sustainability efforts are not limited to product development yet embrace all processes and elements of the Air in Place system. To reduce the environmental footprint of packaging transport and handling, for instance, DUNAPACK® switched from the traditional supply in coils to convenient, ready-to-inflate reams that double the number of bags per pack. The recent reduction of all film thicknesses has further boosted the capacity of each ream ensuring higher supply volumes and efficiency. In 2022 DUNAPACK® also updated the printing of all Air In Place and Foam In Place films, anticipating the entry into force of the Italian Legislative Decree 116/2020 on environmental labelling: DUNAPACK® air and foam packaging now provides clear instructions for end consumers on proper disposal of the packaging at the end of its life. Please consult the dedicated page to check the composition and disposal of DUNAPACK® on-demand packaging systems and the primary and tertiary packaging used to deliver our solutions.
The Green commitment of DUNAPACK® has been reconfirmed in 2024 with the launch of DUNAPACK® BIO, the new version of Foam in Place cushions in polyurethane foam containing up to 60% carbon from renewable sources. The first BIO foam packaging available on the market, DUNAPACK® BIO reduces CO2 emissions from packaging by up to 30%. To cut the environmental footprint of the whole Foam in Place system, in 2022 we also implemented the MiniStorage, the new storage system that replaces traditional foam drums with IBC tanks with greater storage capacity, and opened a new facility for washing and recovering of IBC drums and tanks used by DUNA or customers. These latest DUNA innovations aim to reduce plastic consumption, transport emissions and spillage risks, to the benefit of environmental and workers’ safety.
The constant research and investment in product and process innovation allow DUNAPACK® to offer sustainable and safe on-demand packaging solutions that combine maximum product protection with full respect for the Environment.
Finally, the Paper in Place packaging line offers several Ranpak filling and protective solutions, available also in recycled versions. The packaging systems made of recovered paper (post-industrial or post-consumer) are all FSC® certified and represent a responsible packaging choice aimed at reducing the environmental impact of industrial packaging and slowing down the deforestation process.
